During the month of August eleven young artists from age 9 to 17 set out to participate in a series of art workshops to learn and create. Exploring video, printmaking, encaustics and photography they found inspiration through words and text that literally or figuratively imprinted themselves on their artworks. “Water”, “Commotion”, “Life/Death”, “Space” and “Bad Wolf” are just some examples of text that was mined for creative inspiration, capturing works full of surprising juxtapositions, lyrical beauty and comedic overtones. Leading and inspiring the workshop participants were instructors Tim Dyck in printmaking; Kim Kool in encaustics; Gail Pletsch in photography; and Geoffrey Shea in video production. Words, images, and a multitude of art forms intertwine to reveal the impulses of these inspiring talents. We invite you to engage with their works as you Stop, Look and Listen.
