Artist's Statement

4 Seasons I shape wood into forms that reinforce my sense of connection to the environment. I am shaped by trees - made aware of my 'taking away' when I carve into them.

Painting is how I 'add on'. As if filling in the holes made from careless flights of the past - restoring them to the present.

The movement from brush to chisel awakens different sensibilities, and helps me to understand the connecting relationship.

Other than some formal training in commercial art and illustration, I am self-taught.
