October 2001
Encouraged after last years successful 14+ exhibit, many teens and younger artists in the area have approached the Gallery to include their work in the next youth show.
The original intent of 14+ was to feature artwork created outside of the school environment. Much of the work shown was pushing acceptable boundaries in terms of execution and content: young artists creating their own definitions of what constitutes art to them.
The exhibition title 'Black Years' was suggested by a 14 -year-old as a way to describe the period of time that most of us look back on as having been the best years. A music performance by participating artists between 7 and 9 pm on November 3 will complement the opening of this show.
