ARTEMESIA

Otis Tamasauskas

July 2000

...whether printing on broken stones or incorporating everything from animal pelts to digital photo imagery onto ink and surface.
As one of Canada's leading printmakers, Tamasauskas' vibrant imagery, symbolism and fusion of ideas serve to amplify the overall richness of colour, shape and texture. Once the eye settles after the visual explosion, and you immerse yourself in amongst the layers, the detail seems never-ending.

Otis lived for a number of years in Priceville, Artemesia Township, where he printed and collaborated with many artists, fellow printmakers and painters. The theme of ARTEMESIA surfaces in many of his works and serves as a common idea throughout many of his pieces. His love and respect for nature provides him with a myriad of visual images that he incorporates into the printed surface.
