Scenes From The Black Sun
Jacqueline Damato
February 2004
The recent paintings of Jacqueline Damato explore the landscape from the infinite reflection of the microcosm to the expansive gesture of the macrocosm. These extreme points of reference enable Damato to ponder the wilted edges of the soul in the images of dank humus and dark stars.
Living in Chatsworth she has been involved with the Durham Art Gallery for many years, both exhibiting her work, curating, and volunteering on a regular basis. Currently taking courses at Ontario College of Art and Design Jacqueline maintains an active interest in the creative process with a brisk exhibition history dating back to the early eighties.
